It was built by the Moore Park Cricket Association to honour members who died in the First World War. The association itself has a rich history and is Australia's oldest, having been formed in 1897.
I first noticed this fountain when I was taking a photo of the Bat and Ball Hotel, across the road. It's right on the corner of South Dowling St and Cleveland Street.
