I have wandered past this pub quite a few times since returning to Sydney a few years ago. First time I did, I noticed that it was permanently closed and empty. I just assumed it had been sold and was eventually going to be refurbished and reopened.
But apparently it was marked for demolition to make way for a proposed residential development. That was back in 2015, yet it's still there. So, that plan must have fallen through. Not sure what will happen to it now ... Poor old pub just seems to be sitting there in limbo. At least I got this shot of it for posterity. Was in the heart of the city and noticed this charming celebration being held in Belmore Park, right next to Central Station. Wasn't sure exactly what it was at the time but I got some snaps of it.
I knew it was focused on Buddhism in some way because of the symbols present. I did some online searching later and discovered that it was part of the Songkran Festival. It marks the beginning of the Thai New Year. |
